The Eiffel Tower and the city of Paris have become almost synonymous with one another, a bit like London and Big Ben and New York and the Empire State Building. I think the reason behind this is that certain landmarks really capture the overall feeling and aesthetic of a city and while it might be a little superficial and touristy, I just don't think a visit to Paris is complete without seeing the Eiffel Tower up close.
To counteract the diet of croissants, cheese and baguette we decided to walk up the tower. The queue for walking always has a much shorter line than the lifts, unsurprisingly! The view from every level is breathtaking and we spent ages up there just taking it all in.
Wearing Breton stripes to go up the Eiffel Tower is probably a bit of a cliché, but since I live in them the rest of the time I thought it'd be rude not to. The rip in my jeans has been getting progressively bigger (may have something to do with the fact I keep sticking my foot through it when putting them on), potentially problematic as we're going into December but all the walking has helped keep me toasty so far...
