Wandering around Paris

Paris is one of the easiest cities to enjoy as a non-resident in my opinion - almost everywhere in the centre is beautiful, so you can just get lost and enjoy whatever sights you see along the way. On this particular day we started at Notre Dame and made our way to the Jardin du Luxembourg, taking in the Pantheon, the Museum of the Middle Ages and stopping off at a couple of seriously good bakeries en route.

There are tons of great places to eat in Paris but none of them are particularly cheap. Luckily, we managed to find a nice little place to enjoy some moules marinières and a glass of wine without breaking the bank. We were entertained by a man playing a hang - there are loads of crappy buskers in Paris but this guy was actually pretty decent, unfortunately he was upstaged by a kid stood behind him showing off his pizza dough throwing skills!

The hostel we stayed at in Paris left a LOT to be desired - the bar had a particular affinity for euro trashpop blasted at deafening volume, which we had to endure as it was the only place we could get wifi. Thankfully our room on the seventh floor (a nice fun workout with our bags) was far enough away from the music that we could sleep and the beds were pretty comfy if you could get past the smell of mould. We managed to find a much nicer place on AirBnb for the following days, a lovely little studio. It was tiny, you could literally lie in bed, cook dinner and have a shower all at the same time, but very charming and well thought out - it makes you realise how little living space you actually need. Now, storage space for clothes is an entirely different matter... Something I admit I have been struggling with, since it appears I have accumulated another small suitcase, oops!
