Last week in Amsterdam we decided it was so pretty we wanted to experience the whole city on foot. So out came the map - on my phone to be a little more discreet, I've been using an offline version on an app called Tripomatic to save on pesky roaming fees! - and off we went. We started from Museumplein and meandered our way along canals and down charming narrow streets. Every turn revealed more character and another picturesque scene; for all the sleaze that may exist in Amsterdam by night, there is more than enough beauty to compensate. Then the cold got to us to we headed to the Waag to warm up. Built in 1488 and now housing a restaurant/café, the Waag is lit by more than 300 candles so has a lovely atmosphere and serves great food. We went for the two flavours of pesto with bread to share, it was delish!
For this kind of day exploring on foot, my Nike Free Flyknits were the obvious choice, these babies are super comfy and chic in monochrome. It also helps that they are really light so pack down into nothing. Leather look leggings from Topshop Petite and an H&M jumper kept it snuggly, with a Uniqlo jacket on top for extra cosiness - another super practical buy for a traveller as they are made from high quality down to keep you toasty and squish right down into a tiny little pouch. This came in very handy as the weather conveniently decided to dial down to freezing.
Milly ♥
